Landing

Penn's Landing · waterfront

A trip outside along the waterfront, east of 2nd Street. Check the path condition first. There’s no indoor shelter if the elevators fail.

Better for the waterfront · time outside

Street in Old City

Old City

Old City sidewalks

Same station, historic streets. Cobblestones and curb cuts vary, so plan for extra effort.

Better for Old City streets

At this stop, “accessible” only holds when the elevators are working. Not every Old City block is smooth for a wheelchair.

If the 2nd Street elevators are out, check our live map before you ride past 5th Street. Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) elevator status: septa.org.

2nd Street exists for waterfront trips. Whether you can make one depends on the elevators, then on the pavement.

The stop is east of Independence Mall. Market-Frankford Line riders can reach Penn's Landing from here, so 5th Street is not the only nearby option.

Before you board, decide where you’re heading (Penn's Landing or Old City). If an elevator is out, change plans; don’t treat it as a small delay.

Before you go

Four things to check before you go.

  1. Check the map

Make sure the 2nd Street elevators are working before you ride the Market-Frankford Line.

  2. Pick where you’re going

Penn's Landing or Old City. Same station, different surfaces underfoot.

  3. Plan for cobblestones

Historic paving is part of the route outside.

  4. Verify destination access

Waterfront venues cover their own access. Our map covers the station elevators. Check both.
